MALE: The government of Maldives has obtained a loan from a Dutch bank to develop harbors and for land reclamation work in four islands of Maldives. Through this loan, land reclamation and harbor development work will be undertaken in Haa Alif Dhidhoo, Noony Velidhoo, Baa Thulhaadhoo and Lhaviyani Hinnavaru. The loan was taken from ING bank of Netherlands and the MOU for this purpose has already been signed between the government and the bank on 23 November of this year. Under the land reclamation project, land will be used under a sustainable land use plan. The government says that the land use plan for Baa Thulhaadhoo and Lhaviyani Hinnavaru has even been compiled.
In this regard, in Hinnavaru, 390,000 square meters of land will be reclaimed and out of this, 50, 900 square meters will be allocated for housing plots. 68,00 square meters has been allocated for constructing 170 housing units. In addition to this, 1 lakh square meters has been allocated for selling for various purposes.

Under the land use plan of Baa Thulhaadhoo, 2 lakh square meter land will be reclaimed and 38,000 square meters will be allocated for housing plots, 44,000 square meters for constructing flats and 12,800 square meters will be allocated for selling lands to build houses and 18,000 square meters has been cut out for economical activities.
